Narrative in the Jewish Mystical Tradition: This three-part series will explore the rich tradition of storytelling and narrative in Jewish mysticism both medieval and modern. Our first class will examine the idea of narrative in the Zohar, looking at specific tales about mystical teachers in this work as well as the poetics of interpreting biblical stories. The second session will look at storytelling in Hasidic thought and culture, with a particular focus on the fantastic tales of Rabbi Nahman of Bratslav.…
